Updates

19th August 2026

As you will know the Gathering Tours all start in Glasgow on Tuesday 22nd June 2027 in the afternoon, with a meet and greet with our team.

Almost everyone has booked an additional night through us at the Glasgow hotel, arriving into Scotland on Monday 21st (therefore leaving home on Sunday 20th on an overnight flight).  I now have a price and will add it to the final invoice.

For those of you who have not been over this way before, we cannot recommend highly enough to fly transatlantic into Scotland, please try and avoid changing in Amsterdam, London etc. If you can’t fly direct from your local airport, it’s far easier on the jet lag to change flights near home and transatlantic into Scotland. It’s also better on your return to get the long flight whilst you are fresh, then change for a short flight to your local airport.

The tour starts in Glasgow and ends in Edinburgh on Thursday 1st July,  in the morning. Almost everyone flies in and out of Edinburgh as there are more flights and it’s an easy end to the tour.  Nearer the time I will give you more information on how to get to Glasgow. If you chose to fly out of Glasgow, please be aware that you will have a very, very early start getting from Edinburgh to Glasgow, as transatlantic flights leave in the morning. Alternatively, have another, long leisurely day in Edinburgh and overnight at Glasgow Airport (not included), this means leaving Scotland on Friday 2nd July.

Personally, we use Skyscanner for flights.  Please also Get an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to visit the UK: Apply for an ETA – GOV.UK

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask, that’s what I am here for.

Cheers, Liz

16th July 2026

We’ve just found out that for the first time in 35 years the clan have moved the Friday evening dance to Duart Castle (instead of at the High School in Tobermory). This means we will need to provide transport to Duart and back.  PLEASE do not book transport. It also looks as if they are not offering an event on Saturday night, which again is usually in Tobermory.

I am trying to rearrange OUR boat trip that at the moment is going to Staffa on Thursday afternoon. I hope to be able to book a full day trip to Iona and Staffa (as we don’t want to trail you all up and down that road twice in one day).  DO NOT BOOK A STAFFA or IONA TRIP WITH THE CLAN.

Please go ahead and REGISTER you have to do this to be able to book tickets.  You book with the Clan direct, not us.

If you wish to go to Duart Castle on Friday night, please go ahead and book tickets for THE DANCE, we will make sure we get you there and back!

I will update you as soon as I can ….

Update to Clan Gathering

Clan Maclean stone at Culloden Battlefield

I can’t believe it’s just a year to go, time is flying by and we’re getting very excited over here in Scotland. I will shortly be sending out invoices for the second deposit and allocating everyone reference numbers, I really need you all to use them for payment, along with your full name. Over the years it’s always difficult tracking money from so many Macleans but not as bad as when on Mull the taxi driver walks into a room and shouts “taxi for Maclean!”

The registration for the Clan events hasn’t opened yet. I will let you know as soon as I hear.

There are just a few seats left on our coach tour which will sell out soon, so if you have anyone you know talking about it, please ask them to contact me. Also, please let me know if you want an extra night in Glasgow before the tour starts, this would be your arrival into Scotland on Monday 21st June. The tour officially starts Tuesday afternoon with a meet and greet.

I mentioned that I have chartered a boat (for around 60 guests), Thursday at 1.30 to 5pm (approx). If anyone doesn’t want to go, then please let me know. The landing strip at Staffa has been renovated and makes it much easier to walk on to the island.

Cheers, Liz and Marcus
