Arrive into Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport* and make your way to the elegant Clayton Hotel, on the banks of the River Clyde. The  4 star hotel is a stone’s throw from popular attractions and a five minute stroll to Central Station.  Check in and spend the rest of the day exploring Scotland’s largest city, we will make suggestions. At a time to be confirmed, meet Liz, Marcus and the team in our private area within the bar where we will offer you a drink and snacks. Overnight Glasgow.

After your first fully cooked Scottish breakfast, we head to Loch Lomond for photos & rest rooms. Then to St Conan’s Kirk (time dependent), on the stunning Loch Awe. for a very quick visit. A fragment of what is believed to be Robert the Bruce’s finger bone is kept in The Bruce Chapel which also features an beautiful effigy of the king. Then to Oban where you have time to explore this, the Seafood Capital of Scotland. We then take the 4pm sail taking 45 mins to Mull getting superb views of Duart Castle. Finally 30 mins north to Tobermory checking into the traditional Western Isles Hotel, where you spend the next 4 nights. We have included porterage for this hotel as there is no lift. As it’s cash on the day I will ensure provide £5 per person. Please ensure bags are no more than 23kg. Please note the hotel is on a fairly steep hill and the coach is not available in the evenings. If you wish to go into town you need to walk (or taxi), we timed it, only a ten minute walk. I suggest you do not booking the Clan event this evening as you will not have had the opportunity to pick up your welcome packs and tickets.

First thing this morning, our coach will take you to Tobermory where you collect your registration packs and tickets you have purchased for the clan events. Please note, everyone must register with the Clan Maclean direct before booking tickets. We have chartered a private boat leaving at 1030 sailing to Iona where you will have 2 hours –  visit Iona Abbey and take pictures of the Maclean’s Cross dating back from the late 1400s.  Then on the return, we stop at the wee isle of Staffa where you can explore (weather dependent). We then return to Tobermory appx 5.30pm. The coach will take you back to the Western Isles.  There is a Clan function this evening in town, please book direct.  You need to walk or taxi to town.

This morning our coach takes you into Tobermory for a free day in and around the wee harbour town. There are Clan events in town today, please book direct. You may wish to tour Tobermory Distillery, book directly with the distillery. Our coach will also go up to some lovely shops at the top of Tobermory, time tbc.  

THE CLAN EVENT THIS EVENING IS AT DUART CASTLE, YOU NEED TO BOOK TICKETS WITH THE CLAN DIRECT.  DON’T BOOK TRANSPORT, WE WILL PROVIDE A COMPLIMENTARY COACH AND DRIVER/GUIDES.

Today for the final part of the gathering, our coach takes you to Duart Castle to join the grand procession marching with Sir Lachan Maclean, the 28th Clan Chief. Check out the official timetable on the Clan site. Typically there’s highland dancing, a battle re-enactment, kilt demonstrations, a tour of the castle and food and drinks options. The coach will remain at Duart Castle all day, leaving after the official Clan Maclean Gathering group photograph. On the return we will stop at Pennygown Churchyard, probably built in the early 1200’s. Just outside the walls of the chapel lie two remarkable grave slabs – local legend says that they mark the graves of one of the Maclean Chiefs of Duart and his wife.

Porterage is NOT included this morning. Please ensure you have cash of £5 per person paid direct to the staff and bags must be less than 23kg.  Leaving Craignure on the 11am ferry we sail back to Oban and head north up the west coast to the infamous Glencoe. We drive in to show you this scenic place and out then lunch (included) at The Glencoe Inn. On to Inverness, where you check into the River Ness Hotel. Overnight in Inverness, we will suggest dining options. Porterage is not included as the hotel has a lift.

This morning we head to the iconic Urquhart Castle, a majestic ruin on the banks of Loch Ness which has the largest volume of fresh water in Great Britain. Late morning we go to Culloden Visitor Centre where a private lunch is included. Then we take a tour of the centre followed by a personal tour of the Battlefield. Back to Inverness for the evening. If it’s a nice night, a stroll along the river is rather pleasant.

Your last day with the Clan Maclean Gathering coach as we head south. We stop for a comfort break only in the Victorian town of Pitlochry then down to Perth. We visit the Perth Museum where the Stone of Destiny lies, before enjoying a champagne afternoon tea at The Royal George Hotel, where Queen Victoria stayed in1848. Finally, on to the Voco Haymarket Hotel in Edinburgh where you spend the next two nights. Porterage is not included as the hotel has a lift.  Your driver and guide leave you this evening. We will of course, be recommending places to eat, drink and shop.
